La orientación es la acción de ubicar. La palabra orientacion viene de la palabra "oriente" a veces en el horizonte, un rumbo geográfico, principalmente el oriente, el norte o también en el caso de usar un reloj para orientarse en el hemisferio norte, el sur, y con esto relacionar la rosa de los vientos en un lugar en particular. La orientación es utilizada por animales y por el hombre aunque es bien sabido que muchos vegetales también la aplican. Otra forma de definir orientación es la forma en la que conocemos el espacio que nos rodea, guiándonos por unos puntos ya conocidos que actúan como referencia.
